Staying around Tahrir Square worked really well for us as it was central and easy for getting around. I’d recommend choosing a hotel with a good breakfast and helpful concierge, as Cairo traffic can make planning your day a bit unpredictable. If you’re arriving early, it’s also worth asking about early check-in in advance.”

Downtown Cairo-Certainly not the Pyramid area’ You literally must haggle with everyone for anything ( excluding restaurants). Basically if anyone offers you a price for anything pay no more than 50% of what they ask. You are still being ripped off but not as much! This applies to river trips, shops, taxis, vendor stalls or people on the street trying to get you to buy what they are selling. There are very few vehicles ( 5 out of every 100) that are not dented somewhere. They drive like maniacs with no rules and the condition of the cars and trucks are a testimonial to my statement.
