I bought the insurance online when I reserved the car but when I went to pick up the car the employee said the insurance I bought online was worthless. He said I need to buy insurance from him or I wouldn't have any, or very little liability coverage. I didn't appreciate having to buy insurance twice.8.0 Very good

We rented from this budget location because we were supposed to get a cheap wrangler. The location directions were extremely confusing – turned out it was actually in a hotel, which was not clearly marked in the directions. When we finally got there, they did not actually have our car, and we ended up renting a regular SUV. Having said that, we got a Kia Sorento, which was nicer than expected.6.0 Okay

Biggest problem was the 1:20 wait to get my car. Even after I had completed all of the booking and payment details online. Severely understaffed, if I could have gone to another company I would have. I felt trapped without any possibility for escape. After 4+ hours of travel it was a very unpleasant welcome into Mexico.2.0 Poor

First off, it wasn't called Ace rental anymore on Cozumel, its Fox Car Rentals now. And secondly I wasn't expecting any more fees based on the price I reserved the car for. I was confused that the company charged me an extra fee for insurance, and I thought that was included in the price that I reserved it for. It would of been nice if they programmed their address in the GPS for an easy way to get back to the drop off. Or showed us how to some of the features work.Thrifty

I think all cars are newer now so you should get a good one. Price with minimal insurance is about $210 USD for a week. Don't think you get the price on the web cause you must add $17.00 per day insurance and this is not complete insurance! Always book exactly the car you want like size and transmission as they will not upgrade unless they charge a huge amount. Also don't hit the tires against the curb or they charge fir damage...the slightest tiny ding or scratch is mega money. If you get a ding have it fixed before you take it back and you'll save hundreds as body work is cheap if dine by you vs. them. They are along with their sister company Dollar the best on the island I think.10.0 Wonderful

Kayak had a reservation for 2, 7 passenger vans. When getting to the airport and the hot trailer of Fox rental car, we found that they do not rent vans. We were able to rent a very small car with poor air conditioning for 1 day, then the following day we were able to pick up a 15-passenger manual stick shift van. Don't know where they got this van, but Fox rentals is very limited in their automobiles. Very unhappy with the entire process. It took forever (2 1/2 hours) to get things straightened out. Never again will we use Kayak or Fox Car Rental.2.0 Poor

The on-line info said that the counter for rental was in the terminal. It was three blocks away. My wife and I like the convenience of in-the-terminal rental. We had several pieces of luggage and "lugging" these around is not how we want to spend our time in paradise. Also, the price quoted on-line did not include $35/day mandatory Mexican insurance. We ended up using Avis that did have a counter in the terminal and cars immediately outside.4.0 Mediocre

This was our second attempt to rent from Fox Rental in Cozumel. Last March we arrived in Cozumel at Fox Rental to be told it was a $50 us per day charge for the insurance. We walked away and rented with another car company. This time I did my homework and printed the cost of insurance per day and the deposit fee from Fox's website. The cost for CDW is $21.99 us per day. You have no choice. Do not take the insurance from a third party, when you arrive in Mexico, Fox rental won't accept this. This is how they make their money.Cons:
My first question when we arrived at Fox's office in Cozumel, is how much is your CDW insurance ? I was told $25.00 us a day. Not true I said to the Fox representative. Produced a copy of the insurance costs. Then I told him I had a reservation. Would he like a good review or a poor review? He honoured the reservation price and the insurance cost of $21.99 us a day. A deposit for mid size cars is an additional $300 us. When you return the car intact they give you the visa imprint back. We saved at least $300 us for our car rental. You have to be prepared to stand up to Fox. I was told by Fox USA, in Mexico; Fox Car Rental is independently owned; they have frequent complaints. The car we received was very basic. Was an automatic and had air conditioning. Otherwise, no power windows or locks. For the price we were happy and would rent again from Fox. It's unfortunate you have to do so much preparation to rent a car.Dollar

When we got there, he said the reservation price isn't the actual price, and that to rent a car instead of $30, it would be $86 after some vague required protection thing they didn't mention in the kayak listing. They also took an hour to do "paperwork" on their computer while we were waiting for them to get us the vehicle, and then when they finally called to have the vehicle brought, it took another 30 minutes of our port time. This place is ridiculous. Welcome to Mexico i guess. They gave us the car with 5/8 of a tank and i returned it with 5/8 in it. Only used 3 liters of fuel going to the public beach and back.2.0 Poor
