This was the worst rental car experience ever. 5 cars in 1 month because they kept giving us defective vehicles. Ended up with a compact when I paid for an suv. Promised to refund me for the time we were without a vehicle and for the downgrade. Instead they double charged me and threatened to call the police if we didn't give them all the money we had on us. We were basically shaken down and robbed. NEVER use this company!!!! You are warned ⚠️

The pick up experience was okay, the car driver’s side mirror was wrapped around with duck tape and the car wasn’t the cleanest. The not so good experience was when dropping off the car at the airport rental there was no one there to help, had to wait and no one picks up service call at budget Mexico. At the end just drop off the keys to the other car rental service man

The car I was provided was extremely old, dirty and unsafe. When I requested another vehicle that was safer for my wife and three kids I was told if I wanted another car I needed to contract with another agency. Twice while I had the car it overheated and when I called the manager he told me just to take it to a gas station and they knew what to do - no assistance of any kind from the manager (why bother giving me your number). When I returned the car, which had significant body damage documented when I rented, they tried to accuse me of incurring additional damage during my rental period and they held my deposit. I have since called my credit card and put a hold on their charges and will be calling Budget directly and sharing my experience. I have been renting cars in Mexico for 30 years and this is the absolute worst experience I have ever had. I would never recommend Budget in SLP and Cesar the manager should not be allowed to operate this franchise any longer.

I had an 8 a.m. pickup time set on my booking, but the local office didn't even open until 9 a.m.. Then, they said they didn't have any cars and I had to wait. Then they gave me a manual, when I needed an automatic. So eventually, about 2.5 hours after my scheduled pickup time, I got a car I could drive, albeit much more expensive than I booked online. Terrible experience.

Cons:

Hertz says they open at 5am. No employee showed up and 5+ people were waiting to return cars. Apparently this is common at this location. Very annoying considering we were all trying to board an international flight at 5:30.

I made a minivan reservation with two car seats for my children 2 months in advance. Once I got to Hertz the guy at counter told me my reservation is not guaranteed until I get there. They didn’t have the minivan or a similar car to provide me with. I was stuck without a car with two small kids at airport. Terrible horrible service. I will never do business with Hertz again.
