I missed the fine print that said the pickup was not at Orlando Airport, but a good 10 miles away, very lucky I was traveling with someone who had their own rental car and was able to take this 77 year old woman to the car rental agency on International Drive. No shuttle was offered from the Airport rental counter and the same economy car I reserved for $350 would be $850 if I picked it up at the airport, kind of left a sour taste.Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Arrival at airport: checked in to rent. They told me I didn't rent from the airport, I rented from a satellite location. Took a $65 taxi ride to this satellite location and guess what? They're closed. Took $35 Uber ride BACK to airport, where we were informed that it would be over $700 (TWICE the reservation amount) to get a car from the airport because I didn't rent from there. "So.. you're going to gouge me for renting here when the location I rented from isn't OPEN?" Yes. Thank god I have a really patient husband. After spending FOUR HOURS in this process, over $100 on rides around town with two grouchy children in tow, we were finally given the keys to our car at the rate we were given upfront. I swear, I don't know how these places stay in business. Renting a car is ALWAYS the worst part of my travel experience. Always. We've signed up for a business account with Hertz in the hopes that sticking with one place and having an account with them will relieve this stress. It is NOT worth saving $100 to lose FOUR HOURS of your vacation (and money to ride around town chasing a rental car!)Budget

Everything. I prepaid for an SUV in Orlando. The location we were given to pick up did not exist. When calling Hertz reps to provide a correct address and assist, they told me the address I was given was correct. That was not true as the address given was a motel. Then the reps said they now had no car for me. We called numerous times as each time when I told rep it was unacceptable they put me on hold and eventually hung up on me. Horrible customer service. As it was a very busy time in Orlando no other car rental company had a car for us either. We made it work with cabs but it was pretty inconvenient to not have a car on vacation for a week. This was one of the worst representations of a company in all facets once we tried to get assistance. I would never use Hertz again.4.0 Mediocre

I thought the location was at the airport and it was 30 miles away. I had to pay a 50 dollar taxi. I got their and the sight said closed at 2pm. I called the number provided and he said he couldn't provide me with the car I needed. I paid another 50 dollar taxi. I had to book a new reservation with hertz and paid double my original cost.Cons:

When I arrived there was a sign that said the location was closed and offered phone numbers for 2 Thrifty locations across town. I called them and they did not have the vehicle I reserved available. I ended up with NO rental car despite having reserved more than 30-days in advance.Cons:
Kayak should not partner with Thrifty. The pickup location I was sent to was closed and Thrifty did not have any rental to accommodate my reservation. If you book with Thrifty, you might end up with NO RENTAL CAR like we did.2.0 Poor

Absolutely nothing. When I got to Orlando and Uber to the rental car counter it wasn’t even open. No cars were available. Here I am in Orlando on vacation with no vehicle. Call Dollar they said they could do nothing for me. That I had to go through Priceline. I called Priceline they said they could do nothing for me because I needed to go through kayak. Called Kayak and they said I needed to cancel my reservation and make another reservation. There were no cars available at the price I was originally paying. They wanted more than double what I was originally paying. They were very unhelpful and really didn’t care that I had an issue. I tried getting some type of discount code so I can try to get another vehicle somewhere else. They said no codes were available. I ended up finding a car not through you people and it ended up costing me $580. I was not very happy but at least they had a vehicle. I don’t think I will ever go through Priceline kayak or deal with dollar rental car again because of the customer service sucks.2.0 Poor

Everything!! I reserved a rental car to be picked up and dropped off at Orlando International Airport (MCO). Upon arrival at the Dollar Car Rental desk at MCO, they informed me that they had no rental car for my reservation because the pick-up location on the reservation was in downtown Orlando which was nearly 20 miles away from the airport. I paid a taxi more than $50 to drive me to this pick up location only to be told that this location is for drop offs only. They do not offer the service to pick-up a rental car at their location. I called the Dollar Rental desk at the Orlando Airport and they said they have no cars available. Now I have a reservation but no rental car. I called the reservation line several times to describe my situation and was repeatedly disconnected when asked to be placed on hold. When I tried to get an alternate vehicle the cost was well over $1,000 due to spring break limited availability. I had to spend 4 days in Orlando with no rental car and no easy way to travel around town.2.0 Poor

I traveled for business and processed this reservation online through Kayak with a business card. When I landed at the airport to pick up my rental car, the woman at the counter informed me it was not paid for just "reserved" and they couldn't charge the same card. A rental car for an entire week is A LOT of money to pay when you are under the assumption it is already paid for. This was definitely not communicated clearly in the booking process. I have rented cars several other times at a variety of places and this was not the process previously. When I returned the car to the airport, not a single counter was manned. All counters had signs pointing to each other saying "if no one is at this counter please go to the (insert company name here) counter".....but nobody was there. I finally settled on putting the keys for my National rental in the Enterprise dropbox on the counter because it was the only safe way to return it.9.6 Wonderful

Confirmed pickup time was 11pm. I booked a convertible for special occasion and surprise. So I took my wife via Uber from another hotel where we stayed. (20$). When we arrived at the desk at 11pm, we had to wait ~30 minutes since the sole employee (trainee) was struggling to help the 1 customer in front of us. 11:30 he walked away from the desk with the other people without letting us know what was going on. After 5 minutes I called the phone number mentioned at the desk for when nobody was there. The person at that number was oblivious what was going on and his only advise was to wait. Few minutes later the trainer arrived back. Then the ‘gun’ really started. Turned out that the convertible was not there at all... delivery time at minimal 1 hour as of that moment. No other option than to take another car or wait at minimum 1 hour more. After stating that I would take a small car instead but then obviously to a lower rate, he indicated he could not do that; ‘have to speak to manager’. His manager was put on the phone with me and promised me to give the along going rate with the smaller car and a discount for the inconvenience. He also promised the trainee to be there in 5 minutes ‘more or less’. That turned out to be more I guess because the next 20 he did not show up at least. So the trainee started to do the paperwork and then it turned out that he was about to charge me even more than for the convertible...! That kind of made me upset. I asked him to get his manager back on the phone but the trainee indicated that his manager hung up on him before. At that time I conclude that this was not leading anywhere and to look for another way to surprise my wife for our special occasion. Her ~1.5 hour wait in the lobby of a strange hotel was then at least done. All by all, bad-bad performance by Avis. Trainee all alone at a desk not knowing what to do. Manager lying and not backing up his employee. Customer experience worked ever. Formal complaint to Avis will be filed.2.0 Poor

Pick up a different story! We arrived at MCO airport at 10:35. I rented a car to be picked up at the airport. When I got to the agent she looked at my paperwork and informed me that the pick up was near Disneyland, about 25 miles North! I could not believe it. We took a cab costing us about $50 to a best western hotel that was also the incorrect after the driver left!! I walked 2 blocks to the correct address. The clerk was ok and she directed me to where the car was supposed to be. I searched for about a half hour with no luck. Note there was no Avis signs or any indication where the cars were hidden. I kept hitting the remote to lock the car to hear a beep where I might find it. After another 30 minutes I had my wife go to the clerk and ask for better directions. Finally after searching for over an hour I found it. Never again!!10.0 Wonderful
