I was not not advised at time of booking that 3rd party liability insurance would not be acceptable and purchasing their coverage would be required. To me that is clearly a tactic to advertise a low price to rope a customer in, only to surprise them at pick up time with an additional charge when it’s too late to choose another company. When I asked the desk agent how I would have known this charge would be required I was told “it’s in the fine print”. Not a great response. I kept the booking because I needed the car and didn’t have time to go look for another option. And to be fair, even with the bump in cost it was still a competitive price compared to other agencies. The car was older and dirty. The interior was reasonably clean but the exterior was covered in dirt and dust. But it drove ok so it fulfilled the most basic of reasons I got the car, but it was the bare minimum so I got what I paid for, I suppose. I will not likely use them again unless I am desperate.

Half is directed at Kayak, and half towards Advantage. Kayak did not send me to Advantage to continue the rental, but instead took me to Expedia, completely unexpectedly. Not sure if these two search engines are now connected? But then for Advantage, when I did receive an email confirmation, again it came wrapped in a poorly formatted email from Advantage. All the instructions were in an unformatted paragraph, and seemed also like spam. It wasn't until I took the rental car shuttle in IAH did I find out that Advantage wasn't located there. Rather than taking the shuttle all the way back and then to passenger parking, I canceled the reservation and booked directly with a competitor. In not of these complaints, I had specifically requested a rental company that was onsite and not off the airport property. As I discovered, ALL companies are off-site in IAH, but Advantage was off-off-site

It was horrible we didn’t end up picking up the car because the refused to give us the car without buying the insurance even though we have full coverage insurance they insisted we pay $50 a day for insurance in addition to the daily rental price

Be warned this company is a scam. This company is not Advantage they call themselves advantage EZ. We were taken by a shuttle with many other travelers a couple miles off site from the airport In Fort Lauderdale airport. A long line of people was in front of us and they were all visibly upset. They were being charged many times more than the deal they were offered online. I’m talking in one case $500 more and another case $1000 more. Many of these people had are already given this company their credit cards and when they change their mind hearing the prices, they were not given their deposits back. It’s just a horrible experience and a horrible that a company would do this to people that are starting their vacations. I’m contacting the Better Business Bureau and the state Attorney General‘s office of Florida. I hope Kayak sees this and remove them from their list of car rental companies.

Not great. Will not use them or recommend them to anyone. Very dishonest and unethical practice to advertise a price, get customers to commit and then charge them way over for insurance that they cannot refuse. The car was not good either. 75k on the car, ran poorly, oil change light came on, car had multiple dents, chipped paint. There was not a single part of this experience that went well. I will actively tell people not to rent from them ever.

Advantage rental need to clean and maintain their vehicles. The car I rented had bald tires at the wear mark. I had to get a different vehicle and made the change before I left a lot. They try to upsell you on insurance, tire insurance, and windshield insurance no good. Other than that I got a great deal for a rental vehicle. Thank you

The whole shuttle situation is crazy. We had no idea that the rental office was right across the street. Had we known, we wouldn't have had to wait around for a shuttle that never picked up. We wouldn't have had to blow $50+ on rideshares to get to the rental office the next morning. We also wouldn't have had to waste 3 hours or more on back and forth phone conversations to fix our issues with miscommunication. The employees were amazing though.
