The rentals are cheap, so don’t expect Tier 1 cars or overall service. They will also hold $1500 deposit on your credit card, 5-7 business days as per the contract, but it’s been 12 business days I still don’t have a refund. I have a second rental with them at 5 business days and that’s a $3,000 being held on my card. Just be aware.

The car itself was wonderful. The check in process and check out process were horrible. We arrived and were surprised by an additional $125 in fees that were not part of the original reservation. We were not given a very good explanation. We were only told that it was an extra charge because we had our own insurance and a toll device. At check out, we were suppose to be able to drop the car off at the original location and then be shuttled to the airport. We received a message the day of that the Routes employee was not able to be at work by 8:00 a.m. to provide us this service and that we needed to drive to the airport ourselves.

Pick up from and to airport was good. Everything was satisfactory. My only initial disappointment was I signed up for managers choice SUV and got a Nissan Kicks which is not an SUV albeit AWD. Was brand new though and fun to drive so I was ok with it. Also I’m not sure there was any info prior to stating that prices were low because some personal insurance may or may not cover you. I was glad ICBC did cover me, so that was a relief. I forgot to fill up before return as I was tight on time to catch flight. Only used maybe a quarter tank over the rental time so it appears that my balance showing zero owing was received. That I did appreciate and may consider Routes again.

Reserved a luxury vehicle and was given a jeep. The counter agent was not pleasant at all. Overall was not pleased which is unfortunate because I've had good luck in the past with Route.

First, I needed justify my request to have a snow brush, before I received one. Then I needed to clean the inside of the windshield, because sticky debris on it impacted my vision. (Both issues are recurring with this company) When I returned the car, a filled up gas tank suddenly showed it was only 90% full. I drove around in a unfamiliar area trying to top up the tank, only to find out the tank was full, but the gas gage did not reflect this. I went through this twice until I realized it wasn't user error, but something wrong with the fuel gage. This also put me over the 200 km daily limit. I explained all this and showed them my gas receipts. I was told not to worry, and encouraged to write a positive review on Google, which I did. Once I was at home, I received a bill for extra km and service fees! Dealing with this company is aggravating and really only worth during times of significant discounts.
